The Lagos State Government had ordered that all schools in the state will remain closed till further notice due to the spread of the second wave of COVID-19.
This was announced by the spokesman of the ministry of education in the state, Kayode Abayomi, Vanguard reports.
Abayomi explained that the government’s earlier order that schools should resume from Monday, January 4, has cannot hold anymore following the new spike in the number of coronavirus cases.
“Please, recall that the Ministry of Education earlier announced 4th of January as resumption date for the second term 2020/2021 academic session, but this has since been overtaken by the turn of events due to the recent waves of Covid-19 pandemic.
“As a result of the spike in Coronavirus pandemic, Mr. Governor announced the indefinite closure of all schools. To this end, kindly be informed that a new date of resumption will be announced as soon as possible.”
Lagos State has recorded a huge number of Coronavirus cases ever since the second wave of the virus started some days ago.
