Lewandowski Biography

Robert Lewandowski was born in the family of Krzysztof (father) and Iwona (mother) Lewandowski on August 21,1988 in Warsaw, Poland. His parents were catholics who had passion for sports, so it is no surprise that Lewandowski grew to live football. His father Krzysztof was a former player of Hutnik Warsaw football club while Iwona, Lewandowski’s mother was a volleyball player for first league Academic Sports Association.

When his father noticed that Lewandowski was having this growing passion for football, he started taking him to training at Partyzant Leszno club before moving to MKS Varsovia Warsaw in 1997 where he spent seven years in the youth ranks.

Lewandowski began his senior career at Delta Warsaw in 2005 where he made 17 appearances, and scoring five goals. The young polish goal poacher started making waves in the world of football when he joined Znicz Pruszkow in 2006 where he stole the show with an outstanding performances, scoring 36 goals in 59 appearances for the club during his two years cameo at the club.

In 2008, Lech Poznan club signed the prolific forward after his first class performances for the Znics Pruszkow. He continued his goal scoring form with his new club, making a total of 58 appearances, scoring 32 times before former Bundesliga giants, Borussia Dortmund came for his services.

After signing for Dortmund in 2010, Lewandowski went on to propel the club to their league title in 2011/2012 league title, also rounding up the season as the league third top scorer. He had a successful spell at Dortmund, playing 131 times and scoring 74 times for the club before title contenders, Bayern Munich signed him in 2014 on a five year deal.

 

Lewandowski’s football career reached its peak at Bayern Munich where his outstanding displays for the club saw them claim almost all the cups in Germany and winning the top scorer award many times.

His best season was the 2019/2020 season where he won a treble with club including the champions league, he was named The Best FIFA Men’s Player 2020 on 17 December 2020 breaking the duopoly of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi winning the award and also becoming the first Polish player to win the award.

Lewandowski has impressed in the national team since his breakthrough in 2008, he has made a total of 116 caps for the Poland national team, scoring A total of 63 goals.
