Heather Cox Richardson is a history professor at Boston College who specialises in the American Civil War, the Reconstruction Era, the American West, and the Plains Indians. She previously taught history at MIT and UMass Amherst.
Heather Richardson was born in Maine in 1962 and raised there. She is sixty years old. Richardson attended Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire.
She received both her B.A. and her M.A. and a PhD from Harvard University, where she was a student of David Herbert Donald and William Gienapp.
Richardson has six books on history and politics to her credit. Richardson launched the popular history website werehistory.org in 2014.
Richardson began publishing “Letters from an American,” a nightly newsletter that chronicles current events in the context of American history.
By December 2020, Richardson had become “the most successful individual author of a paid publication on.. Substack” and was on track to earn a million dollars per year.
Boston magazine awarded the newsletter a “Best of Boston” award for “2021 Best Pandemic Newsletter.”
Heather has not shared which political party she belongs to. She has been writing about the history of the Republican Party always which leads people to speculate that she might be a Democrat.
