Yes today we are going to look at the most influential female nollywood actress in Nigeria as of 2021, i guess before now you never knew most of them but you can guess them because they always show up and play important role in Nigeria movie.

These women are influential because of the large number of young women who look up to them. This is not to say other actresses aren’t as influential, but the names mentioned in this list are the creme of the crop.

No need to talk much we are going straight to the point now:

1. Joke Silva

Joke Silva, MFR is a Nigerian actress, director, and businesswoman.

A graduate of the University of Lagos and the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London, she began her career in film in the early 1990s. In 1998 she had a major role, starring opposite Colin Firth and Nia Long in the British-Canadian film The Secret Laughter of Women. In 2006, she won “Best Actress in a Leading Role” at the 2nd Africa Movie Academy Awards for her performance in Women’s Cot, and “Best Actress in a Supporting Role” at the 4th Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2008 for her performance as a grandmother in White Waters.

From the 90’s when she started her career till date, Joke Silva has remained an epitome of success as well as goodwill in Nigeria (if not Africa). Anytime her name is mentioned, one can be sure that it is not as a result of any scandal. so far she has been stared in over 120 movies in Nigeria

2. Omotola Jalade Ekeinde

Omotola Jalade Ekeinde (born February 7, 1978) is an actress, singer, and philanthropist from Lagos, Nigeria.

Since her Nollywood film debut in 1995, she has appeared in an astounding 300 films, selling millions of video copies. After receiving numerous high-profile awards, launching a music career, and amassing an enviable fan base, the press has revered the Screen Nation ‘Best Actress’ as Africa’s biggest star.

3. Genevieve Nnaji

Genevieve Nnajiis a Nigerian actress, producer, and director. She won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role in 2005, making her the first actor to win the award. In 2011, she was honoured as a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic by the Nigerian government for her contribution to Nollywood. Her directorial debut movie, Lionheart, is the first Netflix Original from Nigeria, and first Nigerian submission for the Oscars. So far she has been stared in more than 100 movies in Nigeria

4. Mercy Johnson

Right after her secondary education, she auditioned for a role in The Maid and subsequently acted in other movies such as Hustlers, Baby Oku in America, War in the Palace. In 2009, she won an award for Best Supporting Actress at the 2009 African Movie Award ceremony, and Best Actress award at the 2013 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards for her role in the comedy movie Dumebi the Dirty Girl.

In December 2011, she was listed as Google’s most searched Nigerian celebrity, a position she also held in 2012. She is the senior special assistant(SSA) to the kogi state governor on entertainment, arts and culture. This post took effect from 1 April 2017

5. Omoni Oboli

Omoni Oboli is a Nigerian actress, scriptwriter, film director, producer and a trained digital filmmaker. She studied at the New York Film Academy, and has written several screenplays such as; The figurine (2009), Anchor baby(2010), Fatal Imagination, Being Mrs Elliott, The First Lady, and Wives on Strike(2016).

Omoni began her movie career with her first movie role in Bitter Encounter (1996), where she played a secretary. Ever since she has been stared in over 100 films.The fact that she took a break to raise her kids made many admire her even more.

6. Funke Akindele

Akindele Olufunke Ayotunde (popularly known as Funke Akindele) is a Nigerian actress and producer. Funke starred in the sitcom I Need to Know from 1998 to 2002, and in 2009 she won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. She plays the lead character in the show Jenifa’s Diary, for which she was named Best Actress in a Comedy at the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards. her appearance in the list of most influential female nollywood actress is a merit on her side.

7. Emem Isong

Emem Isong is a Nigerian screenwriter, film producer, and director. She has become known primarily for films in the English language, and is a dominant figure in that industry.

Many may not know who Emem Isong is but the story of today’s Nollywood cannot be complete without her name being mentioned. Via her Royal Arts Academy, she has been influential in training a sizable number of actors in Nollywood today.

8. Tonto Dikeh

Tonto Charity Dikeh (born 9 June 1985) is a Nigerian actress, singer, songwriter and humanitarian

She was featured in a movie titled Dirty Secret, which generated controversy among Nigerians due to its inclusion of adult scenes.
