Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has been appointed as the new manager of Paris Saint-Germain as he replace Thomas Tuchel.

Thomas Tuchel was dismissed on the 29th of December just four months after he led the club to the UEFA Champions League final were they beaten by Bayern Munich.

The German was dismissed after two and a half years in charge of the French Ligue 1 champion.

Pochettino signed a deal until 30 June 2022, with the option of an extra year.

Upon signing the deal, Pochettino said he was “happy and honoured” to take on the role and that the club “has always held a special place in my heart”.

“I return to the club today with a lot of ambition and humility, and am eager to work with some of the world’s most talented players,” said Pochettino.

“This team has fantastic potential and my staff and I will do everything we can to get the best for Paris St-Germain in all competitions.

We will also do our utmost to give our team the combative and attacking playing identity that Parisian fans have always loved.”
